Hale O Lana'i

LanaiHouseA plain-Jane house in a modest neighbourhood of what has to be the most quintessentially ordinary town anywhere- except this is Lanai! So if you can't afford the fancy hotels, and don't want to stay at the Lanai Inn (see listing) because you want kitchen facilities or as a party of 4 want to pay half of what you would in two rooms. Don't expect the world- but for the price, this is terrific value on an island where accommodation options are very limited.... more

The Lanai Hotel

LanaiInnYou don't have to stay at the ultra luxe Manele or koele properties on lanai- there is a charming old small inn right in town (Lanai City) as well, dating back to1923. Genuine plantation aloha, interesting restaurant, lovely period rooms- and THE place to meet the locals. for a couple of nights, while island hopping, this is it.... more

The Lodge at Koele

LanaiResortLanai has had to re-invent itself since pineapple production went to the Phillipines, and the island owners decided that luxury tourism was the answer. Both the Manele Bay Hotel ( where Bill Gates got married) and the Lodge share activities, ownership and guest privileges. Still, people tend to book the Manele for 5, then go to Koele for two. Frankly, I'd just settle for the Lodge. Way more exclusive, cooler, more character. you can take the shuttle to the beach or the other golf course- the one at Koele is considered by some to be the best in the world! (I wouldn't go that far). You can shoot skeet, ride bikes, go 4 wheeling, take a helicopter ride. The perfect 25th anniversary getaway. Or any other worthwhile occasion, for that matter. Save up and go!... more
